Your SIM card may be deactivated!

If you have a SIM card but haven’t yet submitted your biometric data, your mobile service may be restricted.

⚠️ Starting from July 1, Russia is gradually deactivating mobile numbers of foreign citizens who haven't completed biometric registration.

📌 From the beginning of 2025, registering a SIM card in Russia will require identification through the Unified Biometric System (UBS). A maximum of 10 phone numbers can be registered per person.

Over 2 million foreign citizens have already completed biometric registration and received SIM cards under the new rules. If you haven’t done this yet, you may experience communication issues:

  • Numbers that have been inactive for over 3 months will be deactivated immediately.
  • Active numbers will be disabled gradually: first, international calls will be blocked, internet speed will slow down, and after 30 days, full disconnection will occur.

📍If you are in Russia, steps to re-register your SIM card:

  1. Check how many numbers are registered to your name through the “SIM cards” section on the «Госуслуги» website or app.

  2. Close extra numbers — you may only have up to 10.

  3. Visit a mobile service center with your passport and verify your identity through the UBS.

If you’re planning to travel to Russia soon, you can send your biometric data in advance via the RuID app.
